Story

Raised on the north shore of Kauai, Shel Rasten spent his childhood swimming and fishing in the waters of the Pali Coast, until moving to Oahu to attend Punahou high school.

Thereafter he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a degree in philosophy at the University Of Southern California. Disillusioned with the rigidity of university life, he left college to travel and write poetry. He spent some years hitchhiking and making his way around the national parks of America, muttering the works of Rimbaud and Keats. Shel eventually moved to Hollywood to pursue theatre, performing in several Shakespearean plays and television sitcoms. Finding the Hollywood carousel ultimately meaningless, he once again took to wandering, this time through Europe, where he walked across his ancestral nation of Spain, taking to the Camino del Santiago in search of visions.

His music is built upon the archeology of both American and Spanish cultures with a deep island influence. His songs come to the surface of his mind after periods of intense mania and distress, releasing themselves when they cease to be under his control. He has now returned to the islands in search of sanity and truth.
